Ford Focus RS laps Nurburgring in 8:26 minutes
Ford has released a video of it’s attempt to break the lap record around Nürburgring’s Nordschleife for front-wheel drive cars. The record currently stands at 8 minutes and 17 seconds and is held by the Renaultsport Megane R26.R. The Ford Focus RS, driven by Horst von Saurma-Jeltsch completed the 13 mile course almost half a minute faster than the Ford Focus ST back in 2005, but still 9 seconds shy of the record, stopping the clock at 8 minutes and 26 seconds.
The Ford Focus RS is powered by a 2.5-Liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission that drives the front wheels. The engine produces 305 bhp. The Focus RS hatch accelerates from zero to 62 mph in a quick 5.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 163 mph.
