The Bertone Mantide
Stile Bertone has unveiled the Bertone Mantide based on the 2009 Corvette ZR1 at the Shanghai Auto Show. Apparently the design of the Bertone Mantide has been influenced by Formula 1 and aerospace technology. Unfortunately it’s butt ugly so it’s quite fortunate that it’ll be a one off front engine sports car for an anonymous customer! No disrespect to Jason Castriota who was director of design but the car does fit in perfectly with some of the odd ball Chinese designs that most critique have lambasted, yet some call the Bertone Mantide a carbon fiber work of art!
Bertone claims that the Mantide can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in a blistering 3.2 seconds and that it can reach a top speed of 217 mph thanks to its weight reduction and aerodynamic construction that has been developed in the wind tunnel! The weight reduction has been achieved by using carbon fiber body panels, interior trim, seats and wheels.
